Dr. Emad Abuhamda is a specialty care physician board certified in gastroenterology and hepatology at Inova Health System.
He joined Inova in 2022 and has been practicing since 1996.
Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Abuhamda worked as a gastroenterologist and advanced therapeutic endoscopist at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Dr. Abuhamda’s areas of clinical interest include managing patients with pancreaticobiliary pathology, including pancreatic cancers and bile duct cancers.
He also has an immense interest in managing patients with pancreatic cysts.
As a fellowship-trained advanced therapeutic endoscopist, he likes to manage patients with complex endoscopic interventions such as managing large colon and duodenal polyps and performing endoscopic interventions in patients with achalasia.
Dr. Abuhamda considers it a true honor to be a physician and a gastroenterologist because it has put him in a position to help care for people at a time when they may be unable to care for themselves.
He takes that responsibility to heart every day when he comes to work.
According to Dr. Abuhamda, the simple moral rule that guides him in his practice and in his life is to treat others like they’re members of his family, with understanding and empathy, especially in their time of need.
Dr. Abuhamda prides himself on providing the best and most up-to-date care for his patients, always putting their best interest above any other.
Outside the office, Dr. Abuhamda loves to read and learn about ancient civilizations and human history.
He also enjoys playing and coaching tennis.
Above all else however, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children.
