Masjid on the Van Wyck was opened on July 13th, 2013.
Between 1998 and 2012 the premises was leased out for the purposes of a masjid subsequently the administration bought a property and moved out.
There was a void for a place of worship in the same community.
As a result based on the needs of the local community an ideal location for commuters along the VanWyck especially to JFK a decision was made to use the premises as a place of worship and Islamic Activities.
This premises has been renovated and currently plans are in progress to merge the adjacent building formerly the Islamic Store into one Building to be called “The Islamic Center of Van Wyck” incorporating the masjid to becoming a part of a broader center.
