Vartkes and his wife Margarite Iskenderian opened the first Zankou Chicken in Beirut, Lebanon in 1962. Due to Vartkes' business know how and Margarite's recipes used at Zankou, the restaurant quickly became an extremely popular destination. Patrons could not get enough of the main item, our rotisserie chicken coupled with our garlic sauce. That combination quickly made Zankou Chicken a household name. Years later in 1982 they established the very first Zankou Chicken in Hollywood, on Sunset Blvd. and Normandie. Using their experience they were able to bring success along with them. After the Hollywood location was established, Margarite gave her blessings and support to her three children to open more locations and expand the business. Over the years the family has expanded the company and now Zankou Chicken can be found in many cities in the Los Angeles area. We strive to bring the same Zankou Chicken experience at each of our locations the same way we have been since 1962.
