Restaurant owner and chef Avi grew up in Haifa and lives in San Diego with his wife and 4 kids. Avi grew up in his mother’s kitchen tasting, watching, and later cooking along side her, wonderful dishes from the best that the Land of Israel has to offer. His connection to food and passion for cooking extends beyond the kitchen and he has always been close to the land and sea.
After operating for over 10 years Pastalini, a local Italian pasta and pizza restaurant, and catering Middle Eastern food, Israeli style, for the past 5 years, he is thrilled to open up his new restaurant. He decided to get back to his roots and he wanted to bring all those amazing flavors of the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine to the San Diego community. Pita 22 is a tribute to tradition and to good wholesome cooking that he is excited for you to share around the table with your family and friends.

2 weeks agoWe had the pleasure of being transported to the Mediterranean on a recent hosted experience at the amazing restaurant Pita 22 in San Diego, California ☀️ Jessica, the manager, was an absolute delight and did not disappoint with her recommendations. Each dish is made in-house and packed with flavor and freshness. With generous portion sizes, each bite left us satisfied, yet craving more. Here’s what we loved: 👉 harissa sauce: spicy, bold flavor that packs a punch in every bite 👉 the pita was fluffy and soft and our 8-year-old happily gobbled them up with the delicious hummus 👉 the hummus fries were fun and flavorful 👉 the falafel salad was a delightful combination of fresh vegetables and flavor-packed quinoa and rice that left all of us wanting more 👉 the vegan portobello pita sandwich was delightfully delicious and satisfying, especially to our mushroom loving 5-year-old 👉 the shakshuka was savory perfection The menu is extensive and adaptable and is sure to satisfy any flavor palette and desire. It’s in a fantastic location in a shopping plaza with ample parking. All tables were full at lunch hour with a constant stream of customers and it didn’t feel overcrowded and busy. The vibe is modern with a cozy twist, with family photos and plants throughout. 🪴 This kitchen has done a lovely job adding plenty of plant-based items to the menu that are packed with freshness and flavor. 2 months agoTried this place for dinner yesterday, and everything was delicious! We had the chicken shawarma plate and the falafel plate. The food was of great quality and fresh. The hummus was super creamy, and the portion size was also decent. We will be visiting again!

6 months agoWow it was delicious! I really don't like trying new places but this I won't regret trying... the taste is so fresh and delicious especially their bread ! Price is perfect and the manager Jessica was so sweet and professional and so patient describing every flavor, detail, and name of our order sooo worth coming back for sure!!!!

7 months agoArrived on Sunday morning and we had the Breakfast which served (unfortunately) only on Saturdays and Sunday.. Has the Eggs Benedict it was the best one I’ve had in my life! Check the photos, highly recommended ❤️🔥

6 months agoStopped here for lunch today and left super impressed and full. The food was delicious, fresh and just tasted well prepared. It came out quick and the pitas were warm and divine!!
