M. Mary Hemphill is a native of Texas and was raised in the Houston area. As a child of immigrant parents, Ms. Hemphill naturally gravitated towards an international life. She has traveled through many European Countries and has spent extensive time in Lebanon, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. In addition, Ms. Hemphill had the opportunity to study and visit different regions in France. She speaks Arabic and French.

Ms. Hemphill’s intrigue of the world beyond our borders geared her towards pursuing an International Degree during college. She received her Bachelors of Business Administration and International Studies, and graduated Magna Cum Laude, from the University of St. Thomas in 2006. She was actively involved in a number of international organizations including: the World Affairs Council, the Brilliant Lecture series, Peruvian Educational Project, and the International Studies Society where she co-chaired Middle East Fest two years in a row. After graduation Ms. Hemphill worked at a mineral trading company in Houston. She had the opportunity to interact with suppliers and customers on a daily basis in Africa, Europe, and China. She also coordinated shipments and reviewed contracts with clients worldwide.

Ms. Hemphill later attended South Texas of College of Law where she received her Juris Doctor and was admitted to the practice of Law in 2010. While in Law School, she was a member of the Garland Walker Court of Inns and Real Estate Law Society. Ms. Hemphill made the Dean’s List her last two semesters in school and also received a Cali award in Excellence in “The Law of Armed Conflict”.

Ms. Hemphill’s interest in Immigration law began at a young age. She witnessed a number of close family and friends try to navigate the United States Immigration System. These experiences instilled an undeniable passion in Ms. Hemphill to help others in achieving their objectives when coming to this country whether it be temporarily for pleasure or employment, or on a more permanent basis. As such, Ms. Hemphill enrolled in an immigration clinic while in Law School where she was given the opportunity to work with immigrants. In addition, Ms. Hemphill clerked at two different immigration firms further solidifying her objective in pursuing a career in immigration law. Ms. Hemphill has experience in Asylum, Nonimmigrant Business Visas, Nonimmigrant Visitor Visas, Permanent Residence and Naturalization processes.
