Attorney Jennifer Nimer is known for her experience with immigration delay lawsuits – also known as Writs of Mandamus. She has filed over 130 federal lawsuits – not only against USCIS but also against U.S. embassies and consulates abroad. Mrs. Nimer believes that many applicants are unfairly labeled “security concerns” or are put in extended administrative processing without justification. Through her immigration delay litigation, she has reunited dozens of families – including children who were stuck abroad away from their parents, families affected by the travel ban and individuals applying for various types of non-immigrant visas.

Mrs. Nimer has thus far successfully resolved over 20 lawsuits for nationals of Iran, Syria and Yemen who were subject to the travel ban and experienced unreasonable delay in issuance of a waiver. She is one of only a handful of attorneys who are currently filing lawsuits for individuals affected by the travel ban’s restrictions. She has also resolved dozens of H1B, F1, and J1 visa delay cases.

Prior to opening her own firm, Mrs. Nimer worked for the Columbus Chapter CAIR-Ohio, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, from 2004 – 2018. She received her bachelor’s degree from Capital University in 2000, where she majored in Criminology and minored in Psychology. She earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Capital University Law School in 2003 with a concentration in Family Law.

In 2017 she was appointed by the Franklin County Commissioners to a three-year term on the New American Advisory Council (“NAAC”). She previously served on the Board of Directors for the ACLU of Ohio for six years. She regularly gives presentations on immigration issues and the travel ban, and has frequently been interviewed by the media relating to immigration delay cases.

Mrs. Nimer is admitted to practice law in Ohio, and is also admitted to federal courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Ohio, Eastern District of Michigan, and the District of Columbia as well as the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 2011.
