ZIAD HUSSEINI, M.D. received his BS in Biology with Distinction from the American University of Beirut (AUB) where he completed his medical training at the AUB Medical Center (AUBMC). After completing his internship in Internal Medicine at AUBMC, he completed a 36-month Ophthalmology residency at AUBMC. Dr. Husseini then completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in Anterior Segment Diseases of the Eye at the Kentucky Lions Eye Research Institute in Louisville, Kentucky. After moving to Dallas he completed a two-year fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He then completed a second 36-month Ophthalmology residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery at UT Southwestern. Dr. Husseini served our veterans as a Staff Ophthalmologist at the Dallas VA Hospital for 8 years, as well as served as an Associate Professor with the Department of Ophthalmology at the UT Southwestern Medical School. He is a Board-certified Comprehensive Ophthalmologist licensed in Texas. He has staff privileges at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Zale Lipshy University Hospital, John Peter Smith Hospital and Walnut Hill Surgery Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery, Cornea Society, Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society. Dr. Husseini specializes in cataract and refractive surgery utilizing refractive cataract surgery with the latest intraocular implants, including ReSTOR, Toric and Crystalens implants. His goal is to provide a surgical alternative to glasses or contacts whether the patient is having refractive surgery or cataract surgery. His special interests include Presbyopia correction, Femtosecond Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS), Penetrating and Lamellar Keratoplasty including DALK, Glaucoma Management, and Refractive surgery including Phakic Intraocular Lenses.
