Summary: The staff here will willingly let a vet in a health crisis risk death. Long version: On 3/9/24 my family member who was in the service, and has been confirmed diagnosed with Manic issues as well as schizophrenia has been having severe issues and hallucinations. We managed to contact his VA doc who is amazing, who said if we can to bring him in. Well after days of looking for him we found him, as he has been roaming the IE on foot after abandoning his house. We brought my family member here, under his DOCTORS orders. The nightmare starts at the triage area where we tried to explain my family member was having a very bad episode, and his doctor who is familiar with how he is wants to see him. We advised that although he is in an episode he has the ability to feign normalcy to elude the VA doctors, which his doctor is familiar with as well. Triage, who also refused to give us their names and were in STREET clothes not only IGNORED us but had us forcible removed by security, as my family member did as we said and feigned normalcy. Security removed us from him and SOMEHOW he was able to get out of the triage area. My family member vanished from the property, staff said they were unable to help us locate him and he’s been missing since. If you hate your vets and want them to suffer, bring them here.

My wife and I care for a double amputee 86yr diabetic veteran who recently became homeless when Jason Johnson at the Valor dept. became aware of his circumstances he provided all the necessary outdoor camping supplies needed to keep the old man dry and warm. He has no idea just how much these things were needed and how thankful Mr. Scott is. Thank you, Jason Jerry, Kasper, and Ramona

My recent visit to the this VA hospital in Loma Lind was a truly positive experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly and welcoming staff who made me feel at ease. Everyone I interacted with, from the receptionist to the nurses and doctors, was helpful, attentive, and genuinely concerned about my well-being. Of course the only issue was parking. Next time I will leave home earlier so I can get a better parking spot.

Good luck to my fellow veterans trying to receive decent care here. Takes six months minimally to get appointments. Then most of the time a couple days before the apt you get a call saying the doctor has to cancel or doesn't work at the facility anymore. When your lucky enough for the apt to happen you are treated with disrespect. The VA wonders why so many veterans have issues with mental health, its because its almost impossible to see anyone and if you do your treated like a drug addict. What ever happened to treating people that way you would like to be treated.

The VA medical facility is not what it used to be. I can get an appointment in the VA or their Community care program. I constantly have problems with referrals and authorizations. Even communicating with the Patient Advocate doesn't work. They don't return calls, and when you finally get through the extremely long wait time, over 30 min, you get transferred to leave a voice mail where the inbox is full or fail to return your call . This VA care is subpar at best. its disapointing. Update : 3/21/24 5 months later my appoint to see a primary physician is scheduled for April 11 via Tricare . I still have not received a call from Patient Advocate to file my grievance. Who ever is in charge of ensuring the quality of care for veterans should be fired . It’s unacceptable the care provided for veterans. I know that person is not waiting over 5 months to see a primary care physician. Do Better !!
