Description

Reem Subei is a Senior Staff Attorney with Muslim Advocates.
She works on issues of religious accommodation, banking, religious discrimination, federal and police misconduct and housing and economic development.
Reem is passionate about building community power through people-led movements.
Prior to joining Muslim Advocates, Reem was a senior attorney at Advocates for Basic Legal Equality in Ohio.
Her work included legislative advocacy, nonprofit governance, eviction defense, jail conditions, equity in education and Black neighborhood preservation.
She has filed and defended cases in federal and state courts, including the U.S.
Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, as well as administrative complaints before federal and state agencies.
Reem teaches Social Justice Law at The University of Toledo.
She is a graduate of The University of Toledo College of Law and earned an international law certificate with her J.D.

Reem brings with her experience from her service on several boards including the National Lawyers Guild Ohio Chapter, where she coordinated legal defense and legal observers for protestors; the Welcome Toledo-Lucas County Initiative, where she oversaw the integration and support of immigrants and refugees and the Coalition for Inclusion and Social Justice in Perrysburg, Ohio
