Mohamad Al Sibae, MD, is a hepatologist and gastroenterologist who has served as the medical director of liver transplantation and transplant hepatology at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital, since its inception. He played an integral role in creating the transplant program as it is known today and facilitated its further growth over the years. He is also an assistant professor of medicine at Oakland University William Beaumont. The heart of his ethos as a physician is patient centered care. It prioritizes the needs and best interests of the patient and treats them as active participants in their medical care. Dr. Sibae is very passionate about the holistic approach to medicine, which relies heavily on collaboration, involving all members of the care team. He strives to foster an environment where learning and adaptability are at the forefront, particularly when it comes to medical education. Through this collaborative model, every member of the medical team can serve as a liaison for the patient, pairing together knowledge, experience and innovation to ensure the best medical outcomes. As a clinician, and especially within the purview of transplant hepatology, he understands the emotional and physical toll of end-stage liver disease and liver transplants as well as the need for compassionate and personalized care for patients and their support systems. He is committed to both their medical care and their overall well-being and serves as their advocate throughout the transplant process. Beyond direct patient interactions, he devotes much of his time to ensuring that the future generation of doctors have the knowledge and capabilities necessary to best serve their patients, as well as regularly working with, and preparing lectures for, colleagues within the field. He understands the importance of cultivating knowledge through an inquisitive staff and well-informed patient population. Dr. Al Sibae strives for clinical excellence, while balancing outstanding patient care with a strong emphasis on education and further development of the organ transplantation program within Corewell Health and OUWB.
